Montegrappa Luxury Pens
To understand the heritage behind anything or anyone, you need to trace its pedigree back to the roots. Montegrappas story begins on the banks of the river Brenta in North Eastern Italy in the year 1912. Just 2 years after the country was founded, the First World War began its terrible course. During such a turbulent time, pens were used as much as the proverbial sword, since all of the soldiers needed pens to write letters to home.
Among such soldiers were the literary giants John Dos Passos and Ernest Hemingway. Both of these iconic writers volunteered as ambulance drivers, using Montegrappa pens that were then known as ELMO while on the job.
With ownership that could claim a name as big as Jean Alesi, Montegrappa is sure to keep progressing throughout the 21st century. Sylvester Stallone stands as a shareholder and board member of the company. Their association with household name celebrities will certainly help to maintain the brands prominence in the luxury pen market.
In 2009, the Aquila family reacquired Montegrappa bringing ownership back to where it started.
